Cohort 2 - 2017

In January 2017, Upsilon Chapter, sent out its call for applications for the second cohort of its Mentoring Program. Under the direction of our Mentoring Chair, Aileen Tanafranca, and vice-chair, Nina Hwang, a cohort of nine mentors and nine mentees was selected for the next year-long program. The cohort held its kick-off meeting on February 28, 2017, where Aileen and Nina implemented the same training program developed by our initial Mentorship Chair, Billy Caceres. This again included a review of roles and program timeline, as well as the speed matching session for pairing.

Mentoring dyads have completed mentoring contracts and set goals for the year. Quarterly progress reports well be provided to the Chair and Vice-Chair, who will also host several dinners and other social events to promote face-to-face meetings among the dyads.

On June 1, 2017, seven members of the cohort participated in a Paint Night Event. This was attended by 3 of the mentoring pairs as well as the Chair. It was a great night of fellowship and networking, and provided these mentoring pairs with an opportunity for additional face-to-face time to build on their relationships.

he cohort also had a great bowling night out on October 12, 2017 at Bowlmor Lanes in Times Square. This was another great opportunity for the cohort to meet up and relax in a social atmosphere and continue that important face-to-face time that builds strong relationships!

The cohort held its Closing Event on January 24, 2018. This was a chance to wrap up the year, complete program evaluations, and for dyads to plan their futures together, with the possibility of continued informal mentoring.
